  • 4 june 2011:  As usual, at the anual Stampe Fly In we open our "flying" season.  This year we were present with 2 T-28's (J-W Van der Flier and L. Hellings), Eric's AT-16 and Jan-Willem's Mustang "Scat VII".  The latter performed a beautiful demo over EBAW.

  • 17-19 september 2010:  Classic Wings of Belgium participated in the International Sanicole Airshow 2010.  CWoB president Fred flew a splendid display in SCAT VII, while Kris performed his first public display in his T-28 TROJAN.

  • 3-4 July 2010: For the first time Classic Wings of Belgium is invited to take part in a major international airshow, at Beauvechain Airbase, Belgium. At least three member aircraft will be present for flying and static display. Additionally, following a very late request by the airshow organization, CWoB succeeded in booking the only Spitfire which was still available in Europe to participate at this airshow. Although the Beauvechain Airshow suffered from numerous organizational imperfections, the weekend was a great one for Classic Wings of Belgium. We attended with Eric’s classic AT-16D, Kris’ immaculate T-28B Trojan and Juan’s superb Boeing Stearman, while P-51D ‘Old Crow’ unfortunately stayed behind unserviceable at its home in Norway. Outstanding flying displays by Frédéric with the T-28, and by Eric in a formation routine with another attending T-6G Texan, amazed the crowds. During the whole weekend, the CWoB-aircraft attracted many enthusiastic spectators, and we were very proud to welcome several distinguished visitors to our static display area. Amongst these were famous astronaut and ISS-commander Frank De Winne, Belgian Air Force commander-in-chief Major-General Claude Van de Voorde, Director Operations of Jetairfly, Mr. Andre Berger, and former players of the Red Devils national soccer team Mark De Man and Mbo Mpenza. Undoubtedly the biggest thrill of all was when Frank De Winne accepted without hesitation to become Godfather of Classic Wings of Belgium. It was clear, historic aircraft still hold a great attraction for many people, young and old.

  • 19-20 June 2010: Classic Wings of Belgium is the main performer during the static and flying events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Brasschaat aerodrome, the oldest military aerodrome in Belgium. One of the CWoB-aircraft is even featured on the poster announcing the happening.

Our participation in the Fly-In that celebrated 100 Years Airfield Brasschaat was a real hit! An impressive line-up of five warbirds and two PC-7 trainers attracted the crowd. Eric Vormezeele’s rare ‘Buchón’ came out into the sunlight for the first time in several years, while Kris Van den Bergh’s T-28B Trojan made its public debut. In fact, Kris was performing his first front-seat flights ever during the event! Last but not least, our newest member Jan van der Flier was present with his very beautiful AT-16 Harvard in the colours of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, and his Pilatus PC-7. This turbo trainer was later on 19 June joined by another example of the same type, owned by our friend Luc Thijs. More photos of this event elsewhere on this website.

  • 15-16 May 2010: the first public appearance of some of the members of Classic Wings of Belgium (and their aircraft) is taking place at the renowned Stampe Fly-In at Antwerp International Airport.

  • 26 February 2010: Classic Wings of Belgium attended the European Airshow Convention at the Holiday Inn in Hasselt, Belgium. Very positive comments were received about the new association from different corners, and several requests for membership were noted.

  • 09 February 2010: founding Director of Australian Warbirds, Mr. Randal McFarlane, asks us if we’re interested to become ‘officially’ affiliated to his association (www.australianwarbirds.com.au). The proposal is to exchange ideas in the future and assist each other’s association where possible. Naturally we accept, so as from now we have an Australian ‘sister’!

  • 08 February 2010: Classic Wings of Belgium is officially launched for the public and press.

  • 03 December 2009: Classic Wings of Belgium is officially started. During the coming months all six founding members will work hard on bylaws, website and press releases.

  • July 2009: Frédéric and Celle for the first time talk about the idea to start with a non-profit organization for classic aircraft and warbird owners and operators in Belgium.
